Can I get a view with all the cards that are in the TODO column in all projects?

Yes, in the dashboard, search for #TODO, it displays all the cards that belong to TODO columns across all the projects you’re member of. In the top bar, you can then select precisely which projects should be part of your search and how you display the results (kanban, list, calendar…).

Can I see all the cards assigned to me across projects?

Yes you can see all your cards on the right of your dashboard page. Click on “show more” to see all the tasks.

How do I change the language?

Go to your user account by clicking on your username at the bottom of the sidebar, then select the language in the options.

How do I see all the due dates across all projects?

Create a global report with a calendar widget in which you select all the projects you want.

Collaborate

Are comments only editable for 2 hours?

Only user with the “moderate comments” permission in their role can edit comments past this time. They can edit comments from other members as well.

Can I give access to only some cards of the project to some users?

Yes, you can first filter your project to display only this card, then create a view. Thus you will be able to generate a shared URL for this view. Any not connected visitors of this URL will only see this view with this cards.

Can I prevent team members from joining my project by themselves?

Yes, you will find some settings in the project menu about that (in the members section)

Can I share part of my projects with external stakeholders?

You can create views of your project, and generate a public URL for them, that anybody with the link can access (read-only)

How can I communicate with the submitter of a Kantree form?

In the card created by the form request, you can enable the “Show in request” option when adding a comment.

Comments added this way will be sent to the submitter by email and they will also show up on his request page.

How can I join my company team in Kantree?

You need to be invited by one of the team admins.

How can I know for sure that someone will see my new comment on my card?

You can’t know who is subscribed to a card, but you can mention a user in your comment. Any mentioned user will receive a notification.

On a form, is it possible to require the user to check a box before submitting?

Yes, you can create a Yes/No field in your card, and use it in your form. If your mark it as required, the submitter will have to check it to submit the form.

Who is receiving a notification when I add a comment to my card?

Any member subscribed to your card will receive a notification

Customize cards

Can I change the model my card field is associated to?

Yes. If you hover your field, there is a small menu that lets you do exactly that.

Can I display the date of completion in my card?

Yes, you can create a formula field and use the expression : {finished at}

Can I hide fields on the detailed view of a card?

No you can’t, but you can create a new tab in your card and put all the fields you want to add in it. The tab is closed by default.

Can I modify the reference number of a card?

No, you can’t.

Can I use an image as a card cover?

Yes you can! First upload the picture on your card attachment field, then click on the small “cover icon” on the image thumbnail that just appeared. Be sure that card covers are enabled in the appearance menu in the top bar of the project.

How can I change the order of my labels?

In the kanban mode, select group by Labels and then reorder your column by drag and drop.

The columns order is used to order your labels in their menu.

How can I display the creation date of my card?

Add a formula field to your card with the query: {created at}

How can I edit a card field name?

Double click on it. Then press enter when you’re done. Depending on your project role, you might not be allowed to do that.

How can I set dependencies between my cards?

You can use card relationships fields for that.

How can I share a field between cards from different models?

You must make sure that your field is available for any card in the project using the small settings menu shown when hovering the field.

How can I show how many labels my cards have?

You can add a formula field to your card with the query: size({Label field name})

How do I add new field to my card

Click on any + button that appears when you hover any existing fields.

How do I change the card layout?

On a card popup, you can drag and drop fields to change the layout. You must have the right permission to do so.

How do I create a sub-board for my card?

Open your card, there is a button “create sub-board” next to the add sub-card button

How do I order my subcards?

If you open a card, you can drag and drop its sub-cards to reorder them.

I can't rename my labels.

Labels can be renamed if you use them to group your cards in the Kanban mode. You can rename the Label columns.

Is there any maximum file size for card attachments?

No

Configure projects

Can I display the sub-cards only in a Kanban?

Yes. Use the option “include descendants” in the appearance menu, and use the filter: hlevel > 1

Can I display only the cards that don't have the Label "My cool label"?

Yes, you can use the query: not #{Label}:{My cool label}

Can I hide completed cards from my kanban?

Use the filter: state!=done

Can I see only the subcards from cards of a specific column?

Yes. use the “include descendants” option in the appearance menu, and then use the filter: parent?(#{Todo})

Replace “Todo” by any other column’s name.

Can I select which fields should be visible in my cards on the Kanban?

In the appearance menu in the topbar, you can set exactly that.

How can I get a Gantt like view of my project?

Use the timeline mode and open the “all cards” section on the left.

How can I use multiple filters on my project?

Between each filter you can use the “or” and “and” keyword to add filters. See the guide on our query langage for more info.

How do I delete a project?

Only archived projects can be deleted. So first, archive your project, then delete it (delete and restore buttons will replace the archive button in the project settings).

How do I track time and budget in Kantree

You can track time or budget using logs.

Is there any way to display all my cards and sub-cards in the same Kanban?

Yes. Enable the “include descendants” option in the appearance menu. Note that custom card ordering is disabled while the option is ON.

Analyze data

Can I sum all my card's Number field ?

Yes, you can do so in a report using the query: sum({field name})

Can I use multiple queries in the same report widget?

Yes, you will need to use “;” between them as so: query1; query2

You can name your queries as so: query1 as “first query”; query2 as “second query”

How can I create charts that take multiple projects into account?

You can create global reports from the sidebar on your dashboard or organization page.

How can I get the cards that have been been updated this week?

Use the filter: {updated at} >= week_start() or {created at} >= week_start()

How can I list all the cards done today?

use the filter {finished at} >= today()

How do I count the finished cards?

In a report widget, use the query: query(state = finished, count())

The “finished” keyword corresponds to dropped, completed and closed status. Use on of them in the query if you want to be more specific.

How do I create a burndown chart for my project?

Select the report mode, then click on “add widget” in the top bar and select burndown chart in the list.

Automate actions

Can I auto-archived card when I mark them as completed?

Yes, on a group, you need to configure the option “Change state of the card created or moved to this group to” to Completed and create an automatic action “Archive card”. You can do so in the settings menu of the group. Then if you move a card in this group, it will be automatically marked as completed and archived.

How do I assign all the card assigned to a certain member to someone else?

First, filter your project to show only the card assigned to the this member with the filter: @username in {Assignees}

Then use a batch action (near the filter box) to set the Assignees to the new member.

How do I configure an automatic action that sets the Due date to tomorrow when I move my card to a column?

In the column setting menu (“…” button), go to “Configure auto action” > “add auto actions” > “Set field” >”Due date” (or any other date field) then add 1 to the “interval relative to setting date” then click “Set”

Manage teams and organization

Can I create project folders in my organization?

If you subscribe to the Kantree Business plan, you can create teams that could play like project folders.

Can I move projects between teams/orgs?

Yes, you can do this in the project settings window. You need to be admin in both teams/orgs though.

Can I share fields between projects?

You can have team fields, that you can enable or not in projects. Go to the settings menu of your team to edit these fields. On the other hand, fields that share the same name and type will be processed as equal in all your global reports, even if they belong to different projects or card models.

How can I add new members to my team?

Visit your team page by clicking on its name in the left sidebar. Then Click on the “Members” button at the top.

How can I share info or reference info between projects?

You can use card relationship fields to reference cards coming from other projects. You can also create card links to cards coming from other projects.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can suspend your subscription from the billing section of your organization page.

How do I delete my team?

In the organization settings window, you will find a delete organization button.

I can't add newly invited team member to a project. Why?

While they don’t accept your invitation and create a Kantree account, you won’t be able to add them to any project.

What happens when we remove a member from our team?

When a user leave a team, we remove all its access to cards and projects.

Mention, activities and assignments are kept but filters using the removed member username still work only if the user doesn’t delete his account.

What is the total maximum attachments data volume per Organization ?

How can I export my cards from Kantree?

You can export all your card from the project menu. If a filter is active, you can export the matching cards only from the batch actions menu.

How can I export my reports from Kantree?

There isn’t any tool provided by Kantree to export reports. The only way is to take screenshots.

In an Excel file that I want to import, how do I represent card with multiple labels?

Separate your label names by commas in the cell.

Is there any ressource to learn to use the API?

You will find some here: http://help.kantree.io/developers/guide
